Lead tape
Lead is not a popular metal, at least in adhesive film form.
Problems with sourcing, disposal and technological progress have greatly diminished the demand.
Not long ago, however, Secad, at a customer’s request, developed a lead adhesive tape for industrial use.
In this case, the search began by finding the most suitable lead film supplier.
Having chosen the appropriate type of film, we identified and selected the most suitable adhesive for the final function: acid masking.
Lead is the only material resistant to corrosion resulting from using acids during some industrial paint stripping processes.
The lead film masks the parts to be protected, e.g., in aeronautics.
The tape can also be applied for X-ray protection, in galvanic baths and even as a weight for fishing lines or balancing tennis rackets.
