Asphalt Adhesion
A very special tape can be considered that which is applied to asphalt for road markings.
In cases where it is not deemed sufficient or useful at road construction sites to mark the division of temporary lanes with paint, strips of rubber material loaded with minerals and glass that make it non-slip and reflective are applied.
These strips are self-adhesive.
The adhesive must have extreme characteristics; it is spread in high thickness, must have a very strong adhesion on asphalt and maintain a high shear (slip resistance) because it must resist the passage, braking and acceleration of all kinds of vehicles.
This is in all weather conditions and for months of application.
Our proposal was based on the use of a UV acrylic adhesive.
One in particular proved to be very resistant to water, with an excellent balance between resistance to extreme temperatures and adhesion on asphalt.
Tests were conducted between 100 and 130 g/sq m.
Excellent performance was also obtained on reinforced concrete.
