UV chamber for accelerated ageing tests.
Many polymeric materials are often damaged by natural environmental factors from the earth’s surface and atmosphere when used outdoors, impacting their durability.
In order to assess this correctly, using suitable instruments to simulate all kinds of weather conditions found in nature becomes essential for understanding the weathering resistance of any type of lab-made product.
Through its new UV chamber for accelerated weathering tests, Secad is now able to guarantee a more accurate estimate of the life time of products supplied to its customers. Through this instrument, we are now able to simulate short-wave ultraviolet light from sunlight in the wavelength range of 365 to 295 nm.
Another key factor causing degradation in outdoor products is dew. The instrument is also able to reproduce this effect through unique condensation capabilities. During the test, water at the bottom of the chamber is heated to become steam, which fills the test chamber. The specimens, appropriately attached to the wall of the test chamber, remain exposed to the air inside.
With this coupling, Secad wants to ensure ever more accurate testing for its customers. Because “Quality is about meeting the customer’s needs and exceeding their own expectations while continuing to improve.”
